Children and Young Person Safeguarding Commitment Statement
Sport Climbing Australia (SCA) is committed to providing a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all children and young people participating in our sport. We recognise that children and young people have the right to feel safe, respected, and protected from harm, abuse, neglect, and exploitation.
SCA has zero tolerance for any form of child abuse and is committed to promoting the wellbeing of children and young people in all activities, events, and programs delivered or sanctioned by SCA.
We will….
- · Ensure child safety is embedded in our culture and is reflected in our policies and procedures and is mandatory at all levels of sport climbing.
- · Create a child-safe culture where children and young people feel valued, listened to, and empowered to speak up.
- · We commit to making sure that everyone involved with Sport Climbing in Australia, from facility operators to volunteers, parents, participants and board members understand the important responsibilities they have in relation to child safety.
- · Ensure appropriate recruitment, screening, and training of staff, volunteers, officials, coaches, and contractors who work with children and young people.
Our commitment goes beyond minimising risk or danger but includes building a child-safe and child-friendly environment.
Together we can provide an environment in which children and young people feel respected, valued, heard and encouraged to reach their full potential.
